To all folk learning Thai in England. - and of course Thai folk living here! Next Sunday - 2nd November 2014. There will be a big Temple Fair at the Wimbledon Wat. A great opportunity to meet other members, enjoy some Thai culture and, of course - Thai food. The exact details have not yet appeared on the Wat website but here are the details of the days events from last year: The annual celebration of Loy Krathong at Europes only architecturally Thai temple combines a traditional Kathina robe giving ceremony and festive activities of Loy Krathong. Everyone is invited to join in the celebrations which see the temple grounds transformed into a bustling food market. On stage there are Thai dance performances as well as traditional Miss Noppamas Contest. Guest are invited to make merit in the morning and float krathongs, lotus shaped vessels, on the temple pond. I would love to meet up with other members of the group, put faces to names, establish contacts etc. I enjoyed a great day there at Songkran a couple of years back.
