To all in the SVL Citizens Group - No matter what your position - TopicsExpress

To all in the SVL Citizens Group - No matter what your position is with respect to the coming of commercial development to the area by Bear Valley and Tamarisk, it is important to let the Board of the HOA know. The most important issue is good planning. While planning principles usually support commercial areas along major city routes and close to multi-family housing, the question with respect to the Tamarisk location is...is it the right location. I am advocating no, that has been the theme of my messages. This location by two schools, a church, a college and the entrance to our community does not lend itself to heavy traffic from a Walmart. There are better locations for this type of development. The area was originally zoned professional office as was properly pointed out by other knowledgeable members of this group. The city of VV had to approve a zone change to allow the Walmart development, it approved a conditional use permit for the amendment...it changed the community to accommodate Walmart. Zoning and planning is meant to stabilize and bring common sense to growth in the community to allow developers to fit into the growth process, not change it. If there is a change it must be substantiated. It has not been substantiated in this instance, it was not fully and adequately assessed or approved in this instance, thanks to the challenge brought by our SVLA Board and its attorney. Lets advocate good planning on Tuesday night. Lets advocate to let the legal process take its course. The job needs to be done correctly, not sold out for gold pieces. We all need to be vigilant and vocal to let our leaders, in SVLA and in Victorville and the County ,as to what is compatible, stable and consistent with our community. Thank you for being involved, for the dialogue, the exchange of ideas whether respectfully made or not, and see you on Tuesday evening.
