To all musicians, vocalist and creative stakeholders...The Competency-Based Training Fund (CBTF) is a key component of the Skills for the future initiative, which is sponsored by the Barbados Government with loan funding from the Inter-American Development Bank. Skills for the Future supports the Government’s Human Resource Development Strategy by aiming to improve the •quality and relevance of secondary education •effectiveness of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Starting August 2014 the CBTF will award up to $800,000 each in grant funding to partnerships between employers and training providers on a competitive basis. The partnerships will have 2 years to implement a competency based training programme leading to a National/ Caribbean Vocational Qualifications (N/ CVQ) certification. In other words...should you decided to partner with a training institution to offer competency based training in musicianship, or vocals or audio engineering or any other skill based training, then that partnership can receive funding.
