To all my American Legion Family friends on FB, I want to take - TopicsExpress

To all my American Legion Family friends on FB, I want to take this time to personally say “Thank You”, for one hell of a year as a Southern Vice Commander for the Department of Indiana. Those of you that have “been there and done that”, you know what I’m alluding to. Those of you that may still have the opportunity to do so, all I can say is..GO FOR IT! Throughout the year I have been blessed with making new friends, renewing old friendships and travelled to places I never knew existed in Indiana and I’ve been a lifelong resident of the state! Billie has travelled with me on numerous occasions and shares my sentiments when I say the hospitality shown to us is nothing short of AMAZING. In my years as a Hoosier Legionnaire, I’ve personally gotten to know many Department Commanders and continue to respect the relationships I have with them. All of them were and still are great leaders in their own right. However, one will stand above all others in my mind forever…MY Commander, Dick Jewell. I had “known of” Dick Jewell for a number of years outside of The American Legion when he joined us on one of the annual Run For The Wall events. He was there as Department Membership Chairman to welcome the group in Corydon, IN and to pass out the first commemorative pins. In May of this year, now Commander Jewell was on hand to welcome the group with the 25th Anniversary Commemorative pin and shake hands with almost 600 of the riders and participants present. I could go on and on but, let me just say again, I might be a little biased but, I don’t think I could have had a better boss, or one more dedicated to Indiana Veteran’s Rights. I am truly honored to be a small part of his TEAM. Along with my cohorts, Larry Dent, Fred Langley, Jim Daube, Marty Dziglowicz, Kenny Toll and all 11 District Commanders, it’s been ONE HELL OF A RIDE!!!!
