To all my Facebook peeps - Suicide kills just about as many people in the United States as breast cancer (and those are just the reported cases), and nearly twice as many as AIDS. Yet suicide research, prevention and awareness raises only a small fraction of what is contributed annually for breast cancer and AIDS research. Suicide continues to kill tens of thousands of our family members and friends annually, and the rate is even higher among active duty military and veterans. We need to do for suicide what has been done for breast cancer and AIDS. The Alive & Running! 5K Walk/Run for Suicide Prevention is an amazing and uplifting event, and helps raise money for this vastly-underfunded cause. Please contribute, and come to this wonderful walk.
