To all my Ohio Relatives (Bennetts and Borgers) Hi Everyone. - TopicsExpress

To all my Ohio Relatives (Bennetts and Borgers) Hi Everyone. I’m sending this to Lynn and she will then send it to you all via Facebook. I was on Facebook at one time, but have lost my password and can’t seem to get it back. Wow! What an 80th birthday I’ve had. Actually, a birthweek! Between being taken out to breakfasts and lunches all week and receiving flowers several times, it was a full week of celebration. You’d think I’d turned 80, or something........... Thanks to all my long lost cousins for chiming in with birthday wishes. Lots of Facebook attention, plus several cards made me feel special. Don’t forget all you little pipsqueaks- - -I’m the original cousin. I hope you all have as blessed a life as I’ve had. A thoughtful and supportive husband, three special children (even if they do over-protect me in my dotage!) and the most adorable grandchildren ever! I’ve had no surgeries and no broken bones. So far, so good! Talk about being blessed! Then I heard from all three of my precious aunts. How amazing! Talked with Shirley on the phone. We always have such good conversations and do a lot of giggling. I love her a lot, even if she is still a brat. Rita, you seem to be going strong. I’ll call you on your birthday. And, Auntie Dee Dee I love the pictures you sent. You and Paul still look great! And who is that darling Kewpie doll you are bathing in the sink. The baby is darling and looks like a Borger. Then yesterday, to cap it all off, we got up at 2:30 a.m. Drove 2 hrs up to Napa Valley for a hot air balloon ride. We had a continental breakfast, headed for vans that took us to our takeoff point. So far, so good, right? Well maybe you haven’t seen an eighty-year-old get into a five-foot-tall balloon basket. There were only two footholds to climb all that height. My left knee is not very strong anymore (okay, so I’m not Iron Woman). Therefore, I was unable to hoist my ass up to the first “step”. With the help of my granddaughter Kristina, my grandson Stephen and my grandson Chase, I finally got in the blasted thing. Gorgeous ride over the beautiful Napa Valley. Totally silence, no wind, no cold - - - except when they blasted hot air into the balloon, loud, hot, etc. The rest of the family said my white hair was like a beacon that they could follow all the way up. Then came the best time of all. Watching Grandma get out of the blanking balloon. Everyone (Kristina, Courtney and the boys) helped. At one point Matt was standing outside the balloon and Stephen placed his shoulder beneath my ass and hoisted me up. Once on the top ledge, Matt had me put my arms around his neck and just drop. He lowered my to the ground. I was a bit dizzy (I know you don’t have to say it). Jayne took movies, so if you’re real lucky maybe you can see for yourself! It only took a few minutes to get my ground legs again. After that, there was a full-scale champagne brunch at Domaine Chandon Winery. Fun, fun, fun! Let’s do it again next year................. Home for naps and to Lynn’s house for catered On The Border Mexican dinner. Oh, I must tell you that Hal arranged all of this on his own AND kept it a secret for weeks. Yea Hal! Anyway, thanks to all who had any part in making it a very happy and unique birthday. Love, Carol
