To all my United Methodist BICS and SICS once again, especially Macedonia United Methodist Church and Dahlgren United Methodist Church. The following was posted on our United Methodist Clergy Facebook page by Brother David Oliver Kueker, one of our evangelical pastors in our IGRC, the current chairperson of our Conference Committee on Evangelism, a fellow member of the Walk to Emmaus Movement, and a personal friend of mine. I want these persons to especially take notice of this: Thad Galloway, Debbie Simmons, Timothy O. Britton, Philip Payne, Rosemary Ragan Payne, Vicki Ellingsworth, and Roger Storment Sr.. I think we should go to his KRD, Kaskaskia River District, training event in January. It would really be helpful to us in determining our own MISSION in our Communities and REACHING out to our people in our SPHERES OF INFLUENCE. Brother David, when and where is this going to be? I also commend this to all my AWESOME SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS THE SEEKERS at Marion Aldersgate as well and to all UNITED METHODISTS in Southern Illinois with a PASSION to win the LOST to JESUS in our MOST TROUBLED TIMES: The starting point is to entirely step away from institutional events (indirect methods) and train individual laity as disciple makers as advocated in Matthew 28:19-20 and 2 Tim 2:2. Who are the disciple makers in your church? Who could be? This is people reaching out through social networks. C Peter Wagner suggests that 5-10% of church attenders have the spiritual gift of Evangelism. Who are they? How can you empower them? You train them and then spread it out wider in the congregation. The Great Commission is a command for ALL obedient Christians, not a task for staff or specialists. With six degrees of separation worldwide NO ONE needs to knock on the doors of strangers. The strength of small churches is relationships, and networking disciple making levels the playing field. This isnt a short term strategy. ... but there is an online course at beadisciple. I teach called Disciple Making 101. And Ill be sharing in the KRD Leadership Training in January if your churches would like to come out.
