To all my fb friends and community residents of the West End, City of New Iberia, and Parish of Iberia. I am kind of in my feelings today because my mom will finally be putting down her gavel for the IBERIA PARISH SCHOOL BOARD District 1. This November she will retire after being on the board and representing Children First for 37 years. At the ripe age of 77, my mom has served her community well. She has seen the schools in the parish of Iberia from the beginning of integration, and more African American Administrators, and Teachers get hired than at any time in the Parish. She has been instrumental in getting New Schools Built and The Wall Of Honor. I can go on and on about her history on the Iberia Parish School, and how her love for education, equality and justice, always gave her the energy to keep going. So yes on today I am in my feelings as she prepares to go to the School Board Meeting this evening. So on today I salute my Mom, Clara Carrier, a true warrior for Education.
