To all my fibre friends. We had a customer come in today with a question that stumped us. She saw a yarn that was called straw spun silk. She did ask the vendor how it was done and the answer she got was: You spin it like straw. Now. I am asking all my wonderful fibre friends if any of you have an answer to what it is, what it could be, if you have heard about it, have you seen this yarn? We are intrigued. I have not been able to find anything online. Nor have I heard of a spinning technique that is called straw spun.I am thinking it could have been a rather small indie artist. I have never heard of this before. The lady could not tell me the name of the supplier. I really do want to find out how it is done, or what it is. I do not like not having answers lol. The yarn was flat like a ribbon, not round like normal spun yarn is. If that helps. I did not see it for myself, can only give you the description I got. After stressing out google and coming up with nothing, I will open this up for peer review lol SO please discuss if you know ANYTHING, or even if you think you have and idea of what it could be. Anything helps at this point. Christiane Knight, Chris French, Knitty Lizzy Scholze Kimberly Nicdao Villareal, Andrea Higdon, Amy Knickrehm, Brittainy Leinneweber, Sheep Banks, Bev BevKnits Currie and all.
