To all my friends and family who have pets: I saw an article on - TopicsExpress

To all my friends and family who have pets: I saw an article on toxic pet treats on television the other day, so Ive been looking up things about it ever since. What Ive found out is that I have been slowly poisoning my dogs and I feel horrible about it. If your pets have had toxic or tainted treats, symptoms may include: Decreased appetite Decreased activity Vomiting Diarrhea with blood Increased water consumption Hard bloated stomach Lethargy Seizures Death My Hannah has all of these symptoms except seizures and death atleast once a month. My Lily has occasional seizures. My vet has put several of my yorkies on meds from time to time, and they have temporarily cleared up, but the symptoms always return. I spend a fortune at the vet for tests and meds, but weve never been able to figure out whats wrong. Ive been giving my dogs Pup-peroni by Del Monte for years, never connecting it to the vet bills Ive paid to treat my dogs for many illnesses. I just threw a $12.95 bag of pup-peroni in the trash, and my dogs, as much as they love it will never have it again. I will be making my own dog treat from now on, so I know whats in them. These are the ingredients in Pup-peroni: Beef, Meat By-products, Soy Grits, Sugar, Liver, Bacon, Salt, Propylene Glycol, Garlic Powder, MSG, Caramel Color, Natural Smoke Flavor, Potassium Sorbate (Used as a Preservative), Sodium Nitrite (for Color Retention), Red 40, BHA (Used as a Preservative), Onion Extract. Meat by-product materials, including grease, blood, feathers, offal and entire animal carcasses from the following sources: butcher shops, supermarkets, restaurants, fast-food chains, poultry processors, slaughterhouses, farms, ranches, feedlots, and animal shelters. FDA doesnt control it at all, because its all considered pet grade. Soy grits and sugar have no place in dog food. Salt is added for flavor and is not good for pets. Propylene glycol makes a darn good antifreeze but any vet can tell you it can kill your pet. MSG can more than triple insulin levels making even the most physically active animals fat. Sodium nitrite is linked with cancer and its in Beggin Strips and Pup-Peroni. BHA is a preservatives linked to cancer and tumors, it is banned in the UK and Australia. Red 40 food coloring is linked to cancer. Onion extract or onion in any form is toxic to pets. Pup-peroni is made in the USA, but Del Monte wont disclose where their ingredients are out sourced from. DONT give you pets any food or treats from China, and do some research on what you feed them, even if it claims to be made in the USA.
