To all my friends and followers on Facebook I guess one of the risks and disadvantages of setting my Facebook profile to public is the risk of being added and targeted by scammers. I now believe that this happened yesterday. I get friend requests from Pinoys every day. I also get numerous people who I dont know messaging me and following me on social media. I have no issues with this and will generally accept all requests when I can. The issue is as I said that there are people out there who want to take advantage of Filipinos. I have heard of scams where people have been added by some of my mutual friends with offers of jobs, relationships, money making schemes etc. I will not however change my settings to private which would not be fair on my followers. Please be warned therefore that people who claim to be my friends or who share mutual friends with me might be trying to take advantage of my current profile as a method of scamming.
