To all my friends and friends of friends, I thought this was kind - TopicsExpress

To all my friends and friends of friends, I thought this was kind of cool. I have more friends that are Christian and Jewish than I have friends who are Muslim, which is a fantastic testimony to this great country where I was blessed that The Fates and My Fathers brought me. One great thing about religion is the observance of holidays and rituals. They serve to remind all of us to remember the past and to embrace our current circumstance. Whether it is the High Holy Days and Passover observed by the Jewish, or the Christmas and Easter festivities of Christians and Catholics, I love how the world shares in these occasions, and I as an individual always try to reach out to those observing because I genuinely enjoy being a part of their celebration. It makes me feel closer to my friends and I always feel honored when I am asked to be a part of their holiday observance. This day and age, I feel it is harder than ever to be a Muslim. The ill-gotten attention that extremists and militants have brought to the humble religion of my ancestors is hard to fathom. It is sometimes forgotten that Islam shares in the Judeo-Christian ethos, and that all three major religions share the 10 commandments as their base. For instance the Muslim rite of the pilgrimage to Mecca has a almost as much to do about Abraham as it does Mohammed. But the point is that sometimes we all forget what brought us here and why we call each other this name or that name. Lets remember that we are much are alike than we are different. Anyhow, I thought it was nice that Coke made a spot for Muslims. Not sure where it aired or anything, but I thought it was a nice reminder that we are all in this together. My apologies that I rambled. I started out so concise. But everyone who is reading this knows me and knows my tendencies to not be concise. With Love, K
