To all my friends from the north who dont understand why the south shuts down when the roads ice… Its not because we are stupid or dont know how to drive in snow (although some of us dont) I myself have driven through several feet of snow on the interstate in Chicago without a problem, I promise… we can handle it. However you know what we dont have? Large trucks full of salt to come and treat our roads for such conditions. Why not you may ask, because it would cost millions of taxpayer dollars to own and maintain such equipment that we would use about once every five years. (For some of the less budget conscious friends I have that is what we call a waste of resources. Same basic principle can be applied to why I dont own a snowmobile) So… just quit being jealous that we get the day off.
