To all of our Face Book friends we want to wish to you a very Merry Christmas!! December 25, 2014 Christmas is Immanuel Christmas means that God is with us. It is nice to know that no matter what you do and where you are going that God is with you. That does something to the fear factor and helps to build your confidence as you walk with Him. Immanuel is God with us. Isaiah 7:14 says, “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel.” Matt. 1:21-23 say “And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” “Immanuel” is the name of the Child that was born to the virgin Mary. The meaning of His name is given to us by Matthew. His name means “God with us.” So the Bible tells us that first of all this baby that was born was not like God but was God. That means that God stepped how of heaven and was willing to be clothed in Human flesh so that people could not only hear about God or be taught about God, but so that God might be with mankind in his need. So, in Christ there is hope for those with no hope! There are times in our lives when we really need God. We need to see God, hear God, feel God and be touched by God. Because of Jesus that is possible. Humanity needs a savior and now into our need has come one who is able to save us from our sin. We are all sinners and the Bible teaches that the “Wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23) All of humanity needs someone who will atone for sin. So, 1 John 1:8-2:2 say, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And He is the propitiation (atonement) for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” Jesus is the atonement for all the sin of the world. It does not mean that He is the universal atonement and everyone is automatically saved from sin’s penalty because Jesus died once for all as Hebrews 9:28 says. But that His death must be appropriated (applied) and as it is then He is God with us, bringing Salvation to us. Are there fears in your life and things that you cannot accomplish on your own? Sure there are! Hear the words of Philippians 4:13 as it says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” There is not one thing that God wants any of us to do or accomplish that we can not be do or accomplished through His enabling power. Hebrews 13:5 says, “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: for He has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” Many times we may feel as if we’re all alone and can not seem to go on in this life. God wants us to know and understand that as a Child of God we are never alone. We will always have His power and presence available to us. So, Christmas means hope, because God is with us. So, we don’t need to quit in life’s race, we need to let Him carry us through. If you are seemingly out of hope and have lost your way He brings to you in your time of need the hope that you need. Christmas is God with us. Why not this Christmas repent or turn from you sin and invite Jesus into your heart to be your Lord and Savior so that He might bring His salvation, joy, peace, hope and presence into your life? If you do or have done that then it can and will be a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
