To all of those who are saying either of the following: Why did - TopicsExpress

To all of those who are saying either of the following: Why did you wait until now to protest (as a way of diminishing those who are protesting) Or Its not going to do anything (defeatist apathetic talk) Shut up! Ok fine thats not a good enough answer. First off people do not protest until the offenses against them are intolerable at which point those people have two choices, try their best to make a change or lie down and become victims. Some people try there best by going out and making their anger visible through protest, while others speak to as many as they can educating as best they can in order to shift opinions, while still others try to make changes by voting. Everyone who is trying to make a change or doing something proactive, even if it is just showing up and listening is better than those who make the statements above. What that BS is above is a cop out, it is an excuse to be inactive and offensive in that it directly attacks the efforts of others. Continuing this type of stupidity is harmful to movements and is deflating. But dont worry I think the anger is deep enough this time that we can over come your (if you are one of those people) negativity in order to sustain some visibility. Will it make an immediate difference? Well yes it already has! The conversation is in the public, national leaders have been forced to comment, the racial issues of this country are exposed, and it has forced those who willfully put in no effort to insert their idiotic comments. Sustained change requires something different. And half of the people who make this awfully offensive argument of no difference or assaulting peoples motivations simply have no patience. Movements and protests do not work over the course of one day, nor are they standing around and just yelling out demands. They are a part of a coordinated effort. The people of Ferguson have registered to vote in record numbers, showed up at the polls, continue to protest, attempted legal action, continue to meet and plan. So to those who just want to see the violence of a few people fine look at that. (But remember no one got mad at the violence and stupidity that took place at pumpkin fest.) Also take notice of the fact that the majority of media networks have not taken the time to look at the comprehensive and intelligent efforts of the people of Ferguson. Everyone should stop and do a little research. Think if they wish to take action. If so with who. And be at least a little informed before making a damn comment. Thank you, Id like to give a special thanks for great conversation and awareness throughout this issue to Freda Grant Madison Breuer Emily OMalley Skyla Seamans Sorry if I left you out and you deserve mention!
