To all of you posting about Seymour businesses on Chapman Hwy.: I grew up on Chapman Hwy. in the heart of Seymour, and I can remember when there was only one tiny shopping area that consisted of Brake Drug, Dr.Bells office, a gas station,TV repair, Seymour hardware, Convenient food mart, 1 bank, Pixie Drive-in and 1or 2 other tiny shops that I cannot remember. There was a tiny post office ( where the infamous spa is now) and Frenchs Market with a small diner behind it where Exxon and Taco Bell are now. There was almost nothing in between. The teens back then hung out at the diner or Pixie drive-in because there was nowhere else to gather, and late at night on the weekend I would lay in my bed and listen to the more adventurous drag race up and down the rd because, believe it or not, there was NO traffic. We also had no red lights, and I could tell you about a lot of spectacular and gruesome car wrecks that happened because of that, but I wont. Once I grew up and married I wanted out of Seymour because there was nothing here, jobs, etc. My husband was in the military so I got my wish. But the 3 years we were gone I missed it, and couldnt wait to get back. Seymour is home and for me it always will be. I am GLAD to see how much this community has grown and grateful for EVERY business that has chosen to locate here. I remember years ago hearing people here complain about this community constantly getting passed over by businesses looking to expand. They would build instead in Knoxville, Sevierville, or Maryville, we would be left feeling like the poor redheaded stepchild. I also have opinions on what other business I would like to see here, but I will keep them to myself and just be thankful for all we have already. Happy New year to all my Seymour neighbors. God bless you all.
