To all our Champion/international paper retiree friends, make sure - TopicsExpress

To all our Champion/international paper retiree friends, make sure you keep every document showing the benefits you have and will get to keep. I have not posted anything negative about the customer service Ive received since Garys death. But tonight I want you all to be aware of what Ive been through attempting to get his benefits. On November 7, we were told by Garys Dr. he probably would not make it till Thanksgiving. I called the service center to make sure I knew about his benefits and what to expect at his death. I had kept every document when he went out on disability about his benefits but wanted to make sure I knew how to activate them if the Drs were right. They sent me a confirmation of his life insurance and pension compensation that week. The day after Garys funeral I called to notify them of his death. Immediately I received a letter stating they were sorry for my loss and there were no benefits forthcoming. I called and asked about the life insurance and was told it was handled by ( you know who) dont want to use their name on FB. Was given a number to call. They showed no record of Gary having any life insurance. I told them of my call in November, they asked did I have any documentation showing his benefits. Thank God Im a pack rat and have kept the original paper work from 2005. I have called them every week. As of tomorrow Gary will be dead 4 months I still have not received the paper work I am supposed to fill out for his pension. The last 3 weeks I have talked to the same lady who verifies the paper work has not been sent out yet. I am thankful I dont have to depend on them for my income. Some widows home would be in foreclosure by now. A lesson learned just wanted you all to be aware. Keep your documentation in a safe place and tell your children where it is.
