To all our friends and family. Patti and I have some bad news to share with all of you. Patti has been having trouble seeing for about 2 weeks so she went in to have her eyes checked. The Doctor at Costco sent her over to Rocky Mountain Eye Center because he saw something that he did not like. Here is what he saw. She has a tumor that has attached itself to her left eye. It measures 6mm X 13mm X 16mm and it is cancerous. There are 7 in 1 million people who get this making it very rare. If it leaks, it can get into her liver and lungs and we won’t talk about what happens then. Her option is to have the eye removed which will also remove the cancer. It leaves no guarantee that it has not leaked already and she would be blind in that eye. Or, they can sew a patch on the back of her eye with radiation in it for 5 days to kill the cancer. At that time they will biopsy the tumor to see if it is a stage 1 or stage 2 cancer. Stage 1 would mean that nothing else may happen. Stage 2 is not what we want to hear. She has to go in and have a cat scan as soon as possible of her abdomen to see if she has cancer in the liver and lungs. When that is done, she will have the surgery on her eye.
