To all the Christian Anarchists who read this page I have a question I would like to ask you. Now, I believe that anarchy and religion are separate issues. One can be a perfectly good anarchist and be an atheist and one can be a perfectly good Christian and be an anarchist. Some of the nicest people I know are Christian anarchists. True warm people that, like Leo Tolstoy, follow the love and acceptance that Jesus preached and not the phony hate you see from the modern Conservative party. Anyway, my question to you is this. Where does morality come from? I ask this because the problem I have with religion is less the belief in a deity but the idea that something is right or wrong because an authority figure (God) said so. This sounds authoritarian to me. This is the argument of authority; that something is moral and true not based on the action itself but based on who said it. Murder isnt wrong because god said it was wrong. If god commanded to kill I would hope you wouldnt listen to god and understand that god is wrong. But if this is true, if morality is doesnt stem from the argument of authority is your belief in god, more love and respect, like you have from your fellow man (and hopefully you have towards your family) or do you think that god is needed for morality to exist? -DR
