To all the Dare Central Telecommunicators: Its been a non-stop work-fest you. I have listened in over the scanner to much of your traffic. But we cant hear how many times that your phones have rang. I know from being up there in the dispatch center at times over the years that for every radio transmission that you handle there are around 10 times that many phone interactions that you must handle. Quite likely more than that even! And then there are the multitude of computer screens that need management and data input, as much or often than the phones or radios. Speaking of radios, there are literally dozens of agencies and their staff that have to be kept track of. And dont forget that the telecommunications staff are the First Responders to all manner of emergency, medical/fire/law enforcement kind of emergencies. Im wore out just thinking about your work tasks! Superman wears a cape. But Superman/Superwoman truly wears a headset! I just wanted to take a moment to say Thank You for doing such a tough, demanding job. Oh, and I should mention that you do that job for 12 hour shifts! TWELVE HOURS! Yes, that deserves capital letters for such a demanding, stressful job. You rock! So, all of my Facebook friends, please join me in saying Thank You to the hard working staff at Dare Central. Its been a busy summer season for them and I know that as August comes to a close they are looking forward to slowing down just a bit as the fall season approaches.
