To all the local peeps: I want to hopefully provide some insight into last nights Canadian Pacific Holiday Train coming thru Lenawee County and answer some questions as to why nobody knew, when it comes thru, why it comes thru here etc. Canadian Pacific (CP) has trackage rights from Detroit to Butler, IN and then into Chicago for their daily freight train traffic from Canada to Chicago and west. (and return) The move last night was simply getting the train from Canada to Illinois for the Christmas season. This train used to come thru in the morning and was not lit up. I first took pics of it in 2006. The train cars on the Holiday train provide a stage for live shows to be done at station stops during the Christmas season. It raises money for food banks. Performers ride on this train and do the live shows. Last night they did a show in Windsor, ON at 5:30pm then packed up and headed west. Luckily for us it goes thru Sand Creek and Lenawee County. There are two Holiday Trains. One is the U.S. train and the other is the Canadian train. Its not advertised here because its just another CP train running on this line as far as CP is concerned. They are taking advantage of their trackage rights to move this train. It ends up west of Chicago and does not come back thru here. You can go to cpr.ca and click on Holiday Train for more info. There is also a link below to give you more info. My interest is in trains in general. I regularly follow railroading/trains and take pictures of them almost daily and have since 1980. I have a database of over 25,000 train photos and I am currently getting ready to market multiple train photo books to the public. I have a few initial copies on hand with more on the way. Thanks, Ron
