To all those who dont know about this festival . This is Ganesh also called Ganapati. son of Shiva. Supposed to be the most widely followed God in India and specially Maharashtra. The Festival is called Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with all pomp and glory for 11 days with huge blaring speakers playing songs from the most recent bollywood movies and a few recent international DJ tracks. For the 11 days the roads are chock o blocked because of the huge pandols put up in the middle of the road causing huge traffic jams and inconvenience as every street , society, galli, junction, signal has one with the best of lighting, sound, music people dancing in front of it. Now I dont really know what happens on the 11th day that the same so much revered God loses its glory and youll find it lying on the beaches of Mumbai and all over the state in dilapidated condition with broken heads, trunks, hands. People defecating on the same beach and many other gross things are a sight to see. Its a pitiable sight to see. Its a humble request that after all the huge amount of the money spent on the 11 days of pomp and glory, please set some money aside to give the most loved God of our country a respectable farewell.
