To anyone who has studied abroad, do you have any tips about minimizing international fees while youre gone? I leave Saturday for Madrid, and my bank is telling me that every time I go to an ATM or use my card, I will be charged $6.00 + 4% of the transaction in USD, plus a possible additional charge if I use an ATM thats not affiliated with my bank. That seems like a lot of unnecessary charges to me, and Im wondering if anyone knows a way to minimize that (i.e. set up an account with a different bank, AAA travel card, etc.)? Any help would be appreciated!
