To be clear, I NEVER condone a parent locking children in car and leaving them... for any reason. That said, we also dont want to propagate welfare moms, dads, families or drive them deeper into poverty and even homelessness. I dont know the whole story on this news soundbyte but if a mom has no money and no caretaker AND has a job interview, what does she do with her kids? How about having unemployment recipients and welfare recipients, even sufficiently able disability recipients give back to society by caring for such children while parents seek work, work, go to school. Seems to me this could be palatable and a win-win from ANY political perspective. Surely, addressing this problem, is good for our society and these kids who are our budding citizenry. Lets show them what its like to solve social challenges. Ala Kibbutz life. There is a workforce, I already pay them, maybe they can be part of the solution. Thoughts?
