To be fair, after the political cheap shot about war, the military and some drivel about the Israelis having guns while the Palestinians have only rocks, Don McLean stayed away from politics and the rest of the night was fantastic. I didnt walk out because I didnt want to spoil Betsys time and Im glad I didnt because it was a spectacular show after that. He kept praising the audience (they really were enjoying it) then finished the show with a rendition of American Pie that went on for 11 minutes and 45 seconds and got a standing ovation that lasted several minutes after they left the stage. Then he came out by himself, thanked the audience and did a solo of Vincent that rivaled American Pie, then brought the band back out and they did one more... All in all we definitely got our moneys worth.
