To be fair upfront, I have not read this study in its entirety, nor looked at any criticisms of it, yet thought the idea of its purpose may fit in here, somewhat. There are several designs to this idea of By-Stander Effect (and theyre all really interesting a crazy.) or Group Think. I watched this today and though of many broad applications this can fit, yet the first one was about the paranormal community in its entirety. Youll see in the video that the second person is aware that something is wrong, yet no one else will pay attention to it.. so, at the risk of even her own safety she says and does.. well, youll see. Same with group think and the paranormal community. It would seem that bright, intelligent and otherwise assertive people may still go along with status-quo (orbs, emf meters, k-II, whatever) even though they know, something is amiss or askew with it and never speak out. Further studies show, it takes as little as one (1) person to speak up and new group rules are initiated and the others will speak out as well. New rules such as Critical Thinking, Speaking your mind, debating ideas is OK and acceptable, being wrong is acceptable, or even admitting I dont know the answer is acceptable in the group.. Hence, why I like groups like this one and being part of them. Theres a lot I dont know.. :)
