To be sure everyone has seen this, Im sharing it. I dont think it goes far enough. It presumes if banks are broken up and wages are made equitable, jobs, free health care, and education are increased, and unions are strengthened, the results will be housing, food security, clean air and water, an adequate water supply, and all the other things middle class families need. I think we need to guarantee those things affirmatively, not presume they will enact themselves. Specifically regarding banks, we also need to prosecute people who fraudulently and using forged and/or unrecorded documents baited and switched mortgagees into loans they could not pay, and then used that fact to take their homes. The homes need to be given back to those from whom they were taken, with only the amount due that was promised and agreed to, and/or at the homeowners choice, damages sufficient to restore them to the position in which they were before these frauds occurred need to be paid from the assets of these broken-up banks, not from future income increased due to the frauds. Citizens United needs to be repealed by enactment of a constitutional amendment providing that corporations or other entities created by law are not given any constitutional rights, but instead have only the rights given to them by the lawful creation. Anyone taking any kind of payment, whether it be a campaign contribution, donation to expenses of running an office or home, or as little as free food and drink at a party, from someone who stands to benefit from that persons doing a public job, needs to lose that public job upon proof of the payment, with no need to prove a quid pro quo for the payment was asked or given. All public programs need to be evaluated according to standards for how we know in advance whether they are successful. If they are not successful, they need to be changed until they are successful according to those standards agreed to in advance, or eliminated. For instance, a program to eliminate homelessness must be shown to do so within a stated time, and it must be shown to be making the percentage of advancement toward that goal proportionate to the time it has been in effect, or those in charge of it must be fired immediately and replaced with other people, and the program must be changed to so advance toward its goal by the end of the next appropriate time period. It must be deemed a gift of public funds, and those funds will be due to be returned to the public by those to whom they have been given, for any person to state a problem is being solved and not make such advancement toward solving it. However, these 12 steps Sen. Sanders lists are good steps.
