To celebrate the start of the Halloween season (Everyone - TopicsExpress

To celebrate the start of the Halloween season (Everyone celebrates Halloween for most of October right?) I decided each day until Halloween Ill post a Halloween themed song starting with today. Some of them will be more directly linked to the holiday than others but all will be creepy, morbid or... something. Today lets start with a classic Misfits track covered by AFI, Halloween. (Chances of the Misfits appearing later in the list are rated as extremely high, and I apologize to the Jokers Funhouse refugees who already saw this track this morning where I was helping DC Doll celebrating the start of the DCUO Halloween seasonal event.) I first starting listening to AFI in the mid to late 90s, right about the time I found the modern SoCal hardcore/punk scene. I loved bands like the Vandals and Guttermouth because they were full of high speed energy and still managed to hilariously funny (or offensive, your mileage my vary and I cant recommend Guttermouth if youre prone towards political correctness) but AFI was a refreshing dose of just straight up hardcore. Their first two albums remain favorites of the genre though they drastically shifted towards becoming an emo/punk hybrid later in their career. I fell out of love with the band about the time they were finally finding mainstream success with Sing the Sorrow and I only stuck around until Decemberunderground, hoping it would be a return to their roots, before deciding I was done with them. But rewind to just before Halloween of 1999 when they released the All Hallows EP, four tracks of creepy Halloween themed goodness, the centerpiece of which is this Misfits cover. Its a little more uptempo than the original and depending on my mood I sometimes prefer it. https://youtube/watch?v=e5WNq5XuuJ8
