To clarify: Posting a call for information on Facebook is just - TopicsExpress

To clarify: Posting a call for information on Facebook is just one of MANY ways we get our information. We make phone calls, send emails, interview people, etc. We have found that using Facebook as a starting place is a good way to get the information out quickly--and this has been very effective. When we wanted to know who to contact about the cook shack, for instance--one post on Facebook and we knew in 10 minutes. Then we called that person and asked for information so we could give them FREE publicity. Pretty much EVERY news agency has Facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. Call me naive, but I really dont think anyone would lie about being a homecoming attendant. I am sure of 75% of the attendants--school isnt open on Sundays--but would sure like to give a shout out to all 100% of the kids before then. I mean--its kind of a big deal. :-) The Ferguson riots news story BROKE on Twitter. Social media is no longer less than pen/paper/phone calls--it is in addition. It isnt passive aggressive to post a question on facebook--its the way things are done in the new millennium. I have found myself this week not asking questions on the Leader facebook because I feared criticism for not being a real reporter. What happened was these things did not get covered. So, I guess, criticize away. I am going to use ALL the tools at my disposal to find out information--and Facebook is one of them. Frankly--it is the most efficient.
