To-day is the birthday of Pundit Deendayal Upadhyaya, who was the General Secretary of Baharatiya Janasangh since 1953 for a long period and while its National President was killed in mysterious circumstances in February 1968 at Mugalsarai railway station. Pundit Deendayal Upadhya was a rare and unique political thinker among the politicians in post-independence India. Prominent among the books written by him are Vyakti and Samaj, Swadesh ebam Swadharma, Parampara Tatha Sanskruti, and Ekatma Manabvad. The last book is the most original and distinguished contribution to the gamut of political philosophy that has been accepted as the political philosophy of the BJP. It has been envisaged in Article 3 of the Partys Constitution. In that book, he has clearly warned the party workers of political opportunism due to which most of the politicians mainly for not getting any Party position or Party ticket for contesting election, do change various political parties for their selfish interest and not for any principle or idealism.. Let us remember him and be guided by his teachings in our efforts to rebuild India in to her ancient position as the teacher of the world, Jagadguru.
