To each their own is my general theory about music, and most everything else, but The Beatles are the one band where Id have to say that if you dont like them, I dont entirely trust you. They were the band that changed everything, and influenced every single band after them. All the bands you love, all the bands you hate, EVERY band that came up with them and after them. Without The Beatles, music as we know it today, and ever since they first appeared, would not exist. There is no other band who has shaped and influenced the musical landscape the way they have... no one equals them in this regard. My favorite period is their middle period, and the brilliant album Rubber Soul stands in the Top 2. It reveals the complexity that is John Lennon: Give Peace A Chance, All You Need is Love? Sure, sure, but if you leave him for another man, you better Run for Your Life because he WILL kill you. And Paul contributes one of the most fantastic break up songs of all time in Im Looking Through You. I could go on and on about each and every song, Norwegian Wood, Nowhere Man, etc etc .
