To everyone that has supported the grass-roots campaign of PG Dive Centers to support the relief effort. I hope to go to Malapascua tomorrow and should be back online by the end of the week with photos of the grass-roots relief effort. Ill also be visiting DAANBANTAYAN in northern Cebu. They have yet to be even accessed by the Red Cross. The rumor is of 14000 families homeless. I hope to check out the situation for Springboard Foundation in Manila, who have 40 tons of aid that needs a home. The money has pored in and there are vans with food and construction supplies being bought in Cebu and winging there way up to the island. On Wednesday several tons of supplies from Springboard Foundation will be shipped for free by LBC foundation from Manila. Whats the connection? Everyone along the way is a diver. I always knew we were special ! [ha ha] The reality is that Malapascua is receiving veyr little intl or government relief efforts. Mostly it is coming from the businesses there rallying round and raising funds. It hasnt been without its hiccups. One shop has 32000 euros in limbo because of paypal and customs is not helping by sticking a water purifying unit in their warehouse Come next week more food will be needed. This is a disaster that will continue to need help for months to come.
