To everyone who shared, donated, fostered and transported the many pups and kittens from the Augusta Shelter in the past few days... THANK YOU!! Within 48 hours 4 kittens, 13 pups from 4 different litters, a Lab and a Collie mix girl will all be given a second chance. 19 animals left, their empty kennels will also give 19 other animals a chance... We now need you help for one more... For hours i have thought how i would word this post, but for once i am lost for words. I met Pearl today at the shelter, what I saw shocked me! We dont know how she got this way, but she needs immediate rescue. She can hardly walk because of her weight, she has hip issues ( due to her weight), she is very uncomfortable being so overweight. She also is Heartworm positive. We discussed her options with the shelter staff and Vet, from there we reached out to off site Vets and Vet techs for their advice. We know she has so much going against her, but if you met her you would fall in love with her. As hard as it was for her to sit up she did, not only that but she reached out her paw to me. She is just beyond desperate for help... We need you to help her by contacting any 501 (c)3 Special needs rescues. We want to get her from the shelter Monday morning and to our Vet for full blood work and xrays of her hips, from there we want to place her in foster and start helping her lose weight and regain her mobility. We are posting a fundraiser for Pearls medical, if she does transfer to a special needs rescue then all donations will transfer with her. Her immediate medical and needs are... Full blood pannel Prescription weight loss food X rays Orthopedic bed Visit with Aiken Fitness and Rehabilitation, so we can get her started on a safe exercise program. Long term medical needs... Heartworm treatment Possibly surgery of skin removal if it affects her mobility. Possible hip surgery ( although we are hoping these issues will improve with weight loss) Follow up X rays and blood work. Its heartbreaking to say, but Pearl can hardly walk as she is so overweight. She will need to lose at least half of her current body weight. dognetworkingagent.wix/dognetworkingagents
