To gather/ majaalis to commemorate the Messenger, to reflect upon - TopicsExpress

To gather/ majaalis to commemorate the Messenger, to reflect upon him and as Imam al-Suyuti described as the ijaad of Allah of him that is his being brought into existence as mercy to worlds and as a giver of law/way/tashri to the ummah is the greatest of blessings. al-Suyuti noted that the Messnger after his nabuwwat, that is, after revelation had come to him he performed an aqiqa for himself. Imam al-Suyuti said we have to ask ourselves why he did this? He said that it must have been to show gratitude to God, for that is why an aqiqa is done to commemorate and celebrate the birth of a child, hence, the Messenger in giving an aqiqa for himself, that is sacrificing an animal and sharing it, as we do today in follow his sunnah, he himself did, even though his grandfather had already done that for him on the seventh day after his blessed birth decades earlier, and with the fact that aqiqas are not repeated. This according to Imam al-Suyuti is proof he acknowledged and commemorated his own birth. So we intend to gather and commemorate his birth has he apparently did, let alone when asked by the companion why he fasted on Mondays, and the answer was quite clear: He was born on that day, and fasting is clearly a means of showing gratitude to God/shukr as Imam Ibn Hajar noted in his fetwa on the permissibility of milad/mawlid/gatherrings to commemorate the birth of the Messenger - Shaykh Naeem Abdul Wali
