To help balance out the effects of sitting, bending or standing - TopicsExpress

To help balance out the effects of sitting, bending or standing all day, try this move from yoga therapist Judi Bar, the yoga program manager at the Cleveland Clinic, and Debra Darnell, a registered yoga teacher: An easy backbend will stretch the front of your body, relax your back, and help you to feel more energized. Begin by standing up straight with your feet hip-distance apart. Tuck your tailbone under your torso, and pull in your belly button. Move your shoulder blades down your back and hug them into your spine. Place your hands behind your head, creating a cradle to rest your head. Tuck your chin slightly down and breathe out as you lean back, moving slowly and stopping at the point of a deep, gentle stretch. You should be able to breathe evenly throughout the pose. If your breathing becomes labored or you start holding your breath, come out of the backbend until you can breathe comfortably again. Hold this pose for two or three full deep breaths and release. Try this move every hour on the hour while working to boost your energy and build your strength.
