To help clarify the Police Departments response on October 3rd to a residential burglary call in the 300 block of 2nd Street and questions about possible delayed response, we want to provide the following information: There were two calls for service related to this residential burglary. The first call was a report of persons throwing rocks at a neighbors house and acting suspicious. The response time on that call was 15 minutes due to Officers being assigned to another call for service. Officers were unable to locate the suspicious persons after checking the area. A second call for service followed 20 minutes after the Officers arrived from the first call. The second call was from the same person in the first call and reported that a window had been broken out in a house in the block and that the previous suspicious persons were likely responsible for that crime. Officers arrived in 6 minutes from the time of the second call and determined that a house had been broken into and property was taken. We hope that this clarifies any concerns about a delayed response to this residential burglary. We have met with the victims in this instance and provided them the important information related to the Police Departments response and investigation into this crime. Because this crime was the first of a series of three connected with residential burglaries when residents are not home, we are continuing to ask for the publics help in calling us when they see any suspicious persons loitering around houses, going door to door and ringing doorbells, or tossing or throwing rocks at houses or windows. These behaviors are things the three Hispanic male suspects have done in the three residential burglaries reported to date. We know that the public has observed these suspects in the past and want you to call us immediately the next time you see them or any other suspicious behavior. That partnership will lead to a stop of this crime series.
