To his credit the newly elected Brooklyn District Attorney Ken - TopicsExpress

To his credit the newly elected Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson has cleared more wrongfully convicted individuals than any other district attorney before him. Over 100 falsely accused inmates have been released. The question is, when will he get to the business of prosecuting police who commit murder against unarmed individuals? True indeed a grand jury has been convened for the murder of Akai Gurly who was murdered by an NYPD rookie who claims it was an accident resulting from a gun shot in the dark. Sounds to me like a charge of involuntary manslaughter will be presented before the grand jury and they will decide whether to indict or not. But when will the district attorney Ken Thompson decide to prosecute those officers who maintain justification for their shooting, who have a written history of excessive force and abusing their authority? 23 year old Shantel Davis was murdered in cold blood by NYPD undercover detective Phil Atkins. Detectives Atkins had a history of abuse and excessive force which garnered him 6 lawsuits - 4 of which the city paid his victims in a settlement agreement. They neither fired him nor removed him from off the streets as an undercover detective! With the remaining lawsuits pending against him he continued to work as an undercover officer - and in that capacity chased Shantel Davis on a high speed chase without identifying himself, until her vehicle crashed into a pole! He then got out of his vehicle gun in his hand demanding Shantel exit her vehicle. Witnesses claim she couldnt get out because the airbags imploded, so he shot her - then dragged her out! The detectives version is quite different, he claims the gun accidentally went off as he was trying to stop Shantel from putting the car in reverse. Regardless to whom you believe, the woman was shot then dragged out her vehicle and left on the street to die in a pool of her own blood and the entire community witnessed it. So if the district attorney is unable to bring charges and prosecute police with an established history of abuse of authority and excessive force against unarmed individuals - save the praise until he does! For if you cant prosecute whats already proven to be guilty you really cant prosecute at all.
