To honour the International Day of Democracy 2013, NANGOF Trust partnered with UNDP Namibia and held the first in a series of three public dialogue forums on Wednesday September 11, 2013. The goal of this series is to engage the Namibian Public to on relevant and ongoing issues. This first dialogue forum focused around the theme “Deepening Democracy: Galvanising Democratic Participation in Namibia." The attendees heard from speakers Phanuel Kaapama of the University of Namibia, Phil ya Nagoloh of NAMRIGHTS, and Human Rights Lawyer Bience Gawanas. “We don’t dialogue a lot in Namibia, maybe we’re scared we’ll say something wrong,” Ms. Gawanas mentioned at the end of the night, after thought-provoking discussions between the speakers and audience. “These talks are very important, and I congratulate NANGOF and UNDP for their efforts,” agreed Mr. Nangoloh.
