To my fellow Democrats, one thing that is wonderful about being 50 is that one begins to understand patterns. This has happened to every two term President in the past 30 years. It happened to Reagan, it happened to Clinton, it happened to Bush. it is the great over correction in an increasingly shrill and frustrated world. It happens not only here, it happens in every Democratic country. We humans are a fickle species who have a short term memory. As much as we would like to believe we learn from history, we are civilized and care more about the common good than ourselves, we really are not that far removed from the caves in which our ancestors lived, where to invite the other strained precious resources for the clan. To put it in perspective, if earth time were the Empire State building, we homo sapien sapiens would be a mear pin on the top. The great thing about these over corrections is that they do switch back and forth. As messy and corrupt as our system of government is, it is still a good system overall.
