To my friends. I have just been refurbishing my reel to reel recorder in the last couple of days. I have listened to the first few songs from my recordings of Phil from The Great Southeast Music Hall and Emporium in Atlanta that I recorded in July 1973. The first set is from July 18. I had not listened to this in more than 30 years. All I can say is that it is pretty god damned great. The first 5 songs are The Bells, Flower Lady. Im gonna Say It Now, (which brought me chills), There But For Fortune, and Outside of a Small Circle of Friends. I stopped it there for now. This tape is running at 3 3/4 ips speed so there is a little noticeable tape hiss and a slight hum from the PA speakers, mostly noted when Phil is speaking and not singing. I recorded these 4 sets from the audience on July 18. 19, and 22. I and no one else own the full mechanical rights to these recordings as Phil gave me verbal permission to record them. It has never been my intention to try to profit from these tapes in any way and I have every full intention of sharing them with his friends and fans free of charge, just cost to reimburse me for postage and cds. I want to remind you all that these shows were done a couple of months before he was mugged in Africa, so his voice is strong and beautiful. I will be working is the next few weeks to transfer them to cds and soon after will make them available to anyone who is interested. Ill keep you posted. Feel free if you have any questions. On this site it is mentioned about the great white wall where all the artists who performed there were asked to sign it. The fellow writes The Late Phil Ochs wrote impeach Nixon and Agnew, I wonder what ever happened to that wall .
