To my friends and coworkers: we are about to start getting all those I told you so Im glad I left that blankety blank company thats what they deserve for charging us to shop I bet corporate aint giving up none of their pay I like costco better anyway Im not renewing because now the lines are gonna be even longer its Obama they just dont wanna pay insurance for full timers etc etc etc posts. We have no one to blame but ourselves, the consumers, and timing. The economy we live in sets us up. As more and more people shop online (me, guilty!) and at cheaper stores, our sales go down. If sales go down, budgets get cut. It just makes sense. Just like shoplifting causes price increases, lack of income causes loss of salary. People are about to get ugly. Lots of opinions coming from people that dont really know the truth will just have to be smiled at. The numbers speak the truth. Lets say every club has 10 managers (our program now follows this strategy). One club needs to staff 100 employees to satisfy member support (high sales). One club only needs 50 (low sales). Why should BOTH stores still pay for 10 managers? Im sorry, but those excess 5 managers at the smaller club might be the hardest working, nicest people in the world, but it doesnt make functional sense to keep them on payroll. The civilian world doesnt know that we have 6 middle managers supervising 3-5 people each. Yes...3 people can handle those same 30 people, therefore we cut 3 middle managers. (And yes I know I am making up hypothetical numbers, but Im just trying to prove a point). The civilian world just knows that SAMs club is being horrible and laying off people to put more profit in the CEO pockets or save money on employee benefits. Malarkey. I just personally wish that layoffs would go in this order: those that come to work and cant wait to leave this company... Yall can go first. Those that complain about your low salary... Bye bye. Those that continually break rules and find ways to be unethical...GTFO. After that, we should have plenty of room for those of us that are being shifted to secure one of your open positions. I KNOW the managers at 6202 are going to be physically ill about these terminations because they CARE for the ones that are being let go. Our members are going to suffer, and we may lose memberships over this...and that just makes matters worse. Just be prepared, my friends. I personally will defend this company decision until my very last day, because its just business folks. Thats how it works from from the BigAss corporations to the itty bitty DBAs. I wish us all luck...that the economy will turn around soon and we are all happy to stand in long lines just because we have extra money to do so. To those who are losing positions, I will do my best to spread the word to my friends and business contacts that we have some HARD WORKING people available for hire. Who knows...everything happens for a reason. Suck it up, put your big girl panties on, take a deep breath, and carry on. Love you guys
