To my friends in Escalations re les photographies Im putting on my Editor-in-Chief hat right now & am sorting out all 390 photos I took from last nights rollicking party, winnowing out photos that have poor resolution and are grossly non-flattering to the subject. Thanks for appointing me as your official photographer ( Haha ) but the only bad thing about it is that it makes me reserve the right to exercise my own personable discretion in sizing up which photos are grossly non-flattering. The subjects may feel that these certain photos are but I wont take them down based on these criteria: 1 The photo shows good technical attributes: Exposure Focus/sharpness Depth of field Colour and/or tonal rendition Contrast Lighting Framing and choice of viewpoint Background Design elements and principles Appropriate application of photographic and/or manipulative techniques Visual impact 2. The photos tell a good story & depict the following: Emotion The moment Relevance Subject impact 3. The photos could potentially elicit the following Viewer’s response Amusement Excitement Interest and INTRIGUE Im just joking. Anyway, because theres etiquette and an unstated protocol in the posting of photos as there is in everything & that it is unkind to post photos with the sole intent of embarrassing someone, Ill allow you the leverage to have control over which photos will make the cut. Heres how Id go about it. Id post the first batch of safe photos on my Facebook. Id post the next batch of photos whose viewership is restricted to only Escalations folks. You have until 5PM today to mark the photo with the following labels: a) Write GROUP if you feel that the photo should only appear in our group. b) Write DELETE if you feel that you dont like this photo of you Curated photos that do not get a certain classification pr disapproval will then be transferred to the Public Album. Haha By then all protests are not entertained. Decision will be final & irrevocable. For heigtened escalations request that require managerial override, write to me. Turn around time for a reply with no favorable outcome being guaranteed will be 72 hours which means, everybody will have seen & screenshot said photo by then. :) Disclaimer: forgive my low reso camera & amateurish takes. Nothing much to expect Haha
