To my kinsmen from ikole ekiti, I think its high time we tell - TopicsExpress

To my kinsmen from ikole ekiti, I think its high time we tell ourselves the bitter truth. Growing up in the town and seeing how the town was in the 80s, and the early part of the 90s, one would assume ikole was moving with the trends of development most especially when you compare the town with its contemporary communities. I could remember vividly, ikole had reasonably good roads then, water was running in our taps, to say the truth, people were so proud of ikole. Nigeria started this current democracy since 1999, and since then, ikole has not occupy any notable position since then. Oye ekiti seems to enjoy dragging and contesting things with us, and at the end of the day, it ends up in their favour. The then divisional teachers training college was first cited in ikole before it was later taken to oye, look at the recently created federal university, it was first cited in ikole before they took it to oye again. Within the spate of 16 years, oye has produced a governor, a senator, and 3memebers house of representatives, compare to ikole which has produced just one member of house of reps since then. Ikole has the human resources that can even pilot a country but we have lack behind in every sphere. The only bank in ikole is the first bank and has since been there since time immemorial, thank God for wema bank in ayedun that serves as contemporary to it, even at a time a son of ikole is the chairman of access bank. When I went home for election in June, one of the military men on the road to ona-ara told me that I should look at the town and see that theres no development. He went further to ask me if we the indigenous people go out to other places and compare the development. Sincerely speaking, I felt that guy made a lot of senses but personally, I am helpless. Coincidentally, at a meeting I attended yesterday that is even official, someone who isnt from ikole but from ekiti and a ceo mentioned that ikole has not developed and that the community may need serious deliverance and prayers. Please lets endeavor to pray for ikole daily and act fast to put the town on a speed lane to development. Lets eschew political hatred that has seen us take the back seat. We cannot endeavor to pass this type of underdevelopment to our children. Please think think and think again. God bless you all.
