To my medicine and exercise science mentors and friends: over the - TopicsExpress

To my medicine and exercise science mentors and friends: over the last few months I have been trying to combat a problem I have when running and racing. Particularly in my longer events (3+ hours) and warmer temperatures. I am physiclly unable to hydrate enough on the course. I simply cannot put more fluid in my stomach or I will puke, yet my muscles and my body are screaming for more fluids. I hydrate as well as possible before the events and daily. As well as taking in sources of electrolytes. (In a recent race when admitted into medical- my electrolytes were fine... But I was so dry and needed at least a 2L fluid bolus to bring up my pressure). Can I train my body to absorb more fluids at a faster pace?
