These are delegates to the state Democratic Party, who determine endorsements for state and congressional races, shape the party platform, and help execute the state partys campaign efforts. Im finishing up my first term not just as a delegate, but as a member of the state partys Executive Board, and am running for re-election. ADem voting is open to all registered Democrats in the 80th District, as of the November 2014 election. The district includes City Heights, Golden Hill, Barrio Logan, Logan Heights, Sherman Heights, Mountain View, Shelltown, Western National City and Chula Vista, San Ysidro, and Otay. Its run differently than most elections -- its done only in person at a specific place and time: Saturday, January 10, 2015 10am - 12pm Chula Vista Main Library 365 F Street Chula Vista, CA Folks can check their Assembly District here: www2.sdcounty.ca.gov/rov/Eng/Edistrict_query.asp Voters need only fill out a ballot and leave, though theyre welcome to stay and hear candidate speeches near the end of the voting period. When signing in to receive a ballot, they will likely be asked to pay. This is a voluntary donation to the party, and may be refused. The ballot allows for voters to choose up to seven men and seven women for delegate. We will have a full slate of 14, and distribute slate cards on site with the list, which can be carried in and used while voting. Voters will also be asked to write in their preferred candidate for Executive Board (one will be elected). Thats me, Lucas OConnor, and it will also be on the slate card.
