To point out that all things are made of chemicals, that some man-made chemicals are not harmful or that some natural chemicals are lethal comes across as pointless pedantry when the underlying concern is that we do live in a world where more man-made chemicals are being introduced than ever before. Paul Willis argues that scientists and science communicators need to explore public concerns about environmental chemicals, rather than dismiss the concerns as misunderstandings.
