It is well known that Javed Akhtar is a committed Modi basher, however, I would like to refute his points purely on objective points without considering his personal grudge against Modi. Narendra Modi has been consistently rated as the 1st choice for PM from surveys/opinion polls conducted by wide range of media houses and psephologists. On an average, he is the choice of 50% people who participated in these surveys. This, by far, is the single largest choice for any individual PM nominee. His closest competitor, Rahul Gandhi, is a far way behind at 20-22%, Manmohan Singh at 15-17% and others still less. Even taking into account substantial margin of error for such opinion polls, there is no denying the fact that NaMo is the most popular candidate for PM by a large distance than everybody else. Given this, Akhtars declaration that 90% Indians are against NaMo is factually wrong at best and a blatant lie in reality. Moreover, even if we assume that majority of Indians do not support NaMo as PM, where from Akhtar got this divine right to term people in favour of NaMo as low quality? Even if we leave out distinguished personalities like Lata Mangeshkar, Paresh Rawal, Ajay Devgan, Rajyavardhan Rathore, Narayan Murthy etc does he mean to suggest that NaMo supporters are all genetically retard and only he and his chosen few are born with god-gifted divine wisdom? This sort of raw disdain is typical of supremacist gangs as observed during Nazi rule in Germany or Klu-Klux-Klan in US and British colonial rulers in India. Congress does not let a day pass without equating NaMo with Hitler; it is hypocrisy at its peak when their own flag-bearers display the quality of Nazis in abundance. Visceral hatred for NaMo has reached such a point in so-called left-liberal, secular intelligentsia, that they attack NaMo and everyone supportive of him in a manner which is bereft of rational thinking and sensitivity. Disgusting as it is, this sort of savage behaviour is likely to continue from a certain class of so-called intelligentsia in the run up to 2014 General Elections. Just as the last legs of a rotten dynasty desperately strives for relevance in its dying hours - only to emphasize how insane and meaningless it has become......................................................................................................................................
