To quote Jonathan Durie: I have tried to show restraint but I cant tolerate this any longer. Ordinary people living in Scotland have been subject to lecture after high-handed lecture from economists. Economists with apocalypse numbers and empty hearts. We have been patronized, condescended to and heckled from every corner of Gods green earth. People who know nothing of our culture, traditions and more importantly our aspirations have made arrogant and lazy assertions about what they consider to be possible. Scots whove done their homework know about currency, oil and social spending inside and out. They also know the story of the homeless guy on Broughton Street, the crippling lack of self-confidence in our schoolchildren, the totally lack of opposition to austerity cuts at Westminister. They know about the fizz of debate in the pub, the excellent upturn in our national literature, the sudden fire in our politicians (nationalist and unionist alike). In short, any and every person in the Scots commonweal knows better than Paul Krugman. Were living the change, whatever may arrive. So heres a message right back to you, Krugman; were no feart and well no be telt. So get it up ye. nytimes/2014/09/08/opinion/paul-krugman-scots-what-the-heck.html
