To represent your country in sport is hughly expensive! I know of people who have qualified to represent their country in other sport & couldnt go simply because they couldnt afford to. For me & all the other powerlifters just to purchase the Australian Uniform is $280, plus the softsuit is $120. Obvousily there is still your lifting belt, squat shoes, Entry fees, Drug testing fee, Flights, Accomodation, the list goes on. There is no prize money, just medals & bragging rights so its alot of hard yakka working & saving your pennies like everyone else. That being said I have been extreamly fortunate to have some sponsorship, Id like to thank the following people for being so generous with their time & funding to help get me to Oceania Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in New Zealand Dec 4-8 2013 to represent Australia. KATRINA ROBERTSON my awesome coach for sponsoring my coaching sessions. KATHLEEN FAVERO MASSAGE CLINIC and her wonderful staff for helping to keep me limber & sponsoring my monthly massage. KEN & NICKIE WARE, GENERATIONS HEALTH & WELLNESS CENTRE for generousily contributing to my traveling expenses. BROZ ABROAD DESIGNS for contributing to my many wonderful shirts & singlets for my family & I. KESTREL SOCIAL CLUBs GOLF DAY for generousily covering my Australian uniform I am blown away from your generousity & proudly wear your names on my training & traveling shirts. Except for Kestrel because I have only just recieved word of sponsorship so thank you again very much. Also Id like to thank Marita Peacy for all the last minute alterations she did on my Australian Tracksuit & our traveling shirts-you did an awesome job, thank you. Id also like to thank Tricia Burdett for all your support & extra running around with measurements etc really appreciate it chic. Id like to thank my brother Richard Kearney, Robyn Taylor, Jo Gibbons & Scooby, Emma Bulkley & George Stevenson, Shell & Steve for watching my children at different times when I needed to train when Hamish was working-u guys rock & I wouldnt have got this far without all your help, lov you guys. And finally to my wonderful husband who I love with all my being, thank you for all your support, for putting up with the hours away from you & the kids, for listening when I need to vent always with open arms, and for the constant encouragement and support lov you babe xo
