To spot one rare species in a day is in itself quite rare, but to see TWO, extremely rare sightings in a few minutes is mind-boggling. The first one is an infrequent visitor to our area, the litter-picking guy with a dustbin on wheels. We have not seen one in our street for an age, but there he was clearing away accumulated rubbish As I turned the corner into Wedge Street I saw a gaggle of gardeners cutting a hedge that had overgrown and was intruding a good four feet across the footpath. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and probably deserves a mention in the Book of Records. What is the reason for this unprecedented burst of activity? One can only speculate.
